About the event
BABA: Secret Belgian Binding. Learn the secrets to the Criss Cross, aka Secret Belgian Binding! It’s a clever 2 part structure created by Anne Goy in 1986. In this class you’ll learn how to cover and bind the book cover and then two ways to attach the pages inside. You’ll leave class with a finished handmade book.
Instructor will provide: Pre-cut Davey Board, outside cover paper, inside paper for the signatures, waxed linen thread, punching foam, needles, waxed paper, scrap paper, PVA glue, glue brushes, spacers, frog tape, written instructions with step-by-step instructions with photos, and tools to share.
Students should bring: Cutting mat, bone folder, pencil, eraser, scissors and x-acto knife with fresh blade. Optional: awl, needles, punching cradle, brayer, ruler or quilt ruler, personal paper cutter.
